Appealing Your Assessment
Moreno Valley property owners can appeal their assessment if they believe the value is too high. File with the Riverside County Assessment Appeals Board between July 2 and September 15. Get the form from the County Assessor or download it online.
Submit evidence with your appeal. Recent sales of similar properties help. A professional appraisal provides strong support. Photos showing damage or problems also help. The Board schedules a hearing where both you and the Assessor present evidence. The Board then decides the value.
You can represent yourself or hire help. Many owners handle appeals on their own. If the Board reduces your value, your tax bill goes down. If they uphold the assessment, it stays the same. You can file again next year.
